Ahepa Chapter 456 held their Annual Golf Outing, “The Andy Cyprus Open” on Monday October 7th, 2024, at The Village Club of Sands Point. The tradition, in its 32nd year at the Chapter, brings the community together in the name of athletic excellence, brotherhood and charity.
This years committee, led by Mario Harris and Pete Takvorian with support from 456 President & District 6 Lieutenant Governor Gus Constantine, and members Gus Rogdakis, Norman Glavas, Dean Pappas, Tom Gardianos, Gus Lucas and Thanasi Glavas worked diligently throughout the planning phase to ensure another successful event.
The fall weather cooperated and the sun was shining making for a beautiful day of golf. The course was full of players enjoying themselves and having fun for a good cause. The Village Club of Sands Point, a former gold coast estate of the Guggenheim family and at one time a private country club of IBM, hosted an impeccable event with attentive staff and the highest quality conditions drenched in the wonderful fall foliage.
This year’s winning foursome with the lowest cumulative score, went to Michael Bardis, Charlie Fravola, Andrew Schulson and William Smith. The 2nd place team following closely behind was the group of Tom Barbaro, George “Big G” Florides, Paul Hagan and Scott Zakian. Winners of skills contests included Tom Barbaro and Andrew Schulson for Closest to the Pin, Frederick Miller for longest drive and Bert Laurie for straightest drive.

The Cocktail Reception and Dinner following the round, was hosted by Mario Harris and saw an influx of guests that joined the event for the evenings festivities. There were various raffles and award recognitions throughout the cocktail hour. Awards included, recognitions to Thanasi Glavas, Dr. Michael Georgis, Dr. Dean Pappas, and Paul Macropoulos for their “generosity, commitment and outstanding support to the “Andy Cyprus” Golf Outing and to the Order of Ahepa Chapter 456.” Peter Ioannou, of Cellina Imports, was recognized for being a key sponsor and his “generous support and participation in the “Andy Cyprus Golf Open.”
Event Sponsors and supporters were recognized throughout the evening for their generous support and participation in the event. Funds raised will help promote the Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, family and community service. In a showing of support from District 6 and other chapters; Supreme Governor Dean Moskos, District Marshall Nick Calogredes, and Warden & Chapter 170 President Anastasios Stampolis played and attended the dinner, congratulating the chapter on another stellar event. The Chapter was truly honored with their presence.
