The 3rd Chamber Music Festival and the 22nd Religious Music Festival will take place on the island of Patmos under the general title “Patmos Music Festival”.
The 3rd Chamber Music Festival will be held from 26th to 31st August and the 22nd Religious Music Festival from 1st to 6th September.
The Festival, in its entirety, has been placed under the auspices of UNESCO, since this year marks 25 years since the Holy Monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos of Patmos, the Holy Cave of the Apocalypse and the settlement of Chora are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Internationally renowned musicians and ensembles have been invited to perform a wide range of works from the Renaissance to the present day: The famous vocal ensemble from England The Tallis Scholars, the Byzantine Music Choir founded by Athanasios Kourentzis Musicaeterna, Ian Bostridge, Steven Isserlis, the Academica Orchestra of Athens, the great Brussels Chamber Orchestra, the Guttman Tango Ensemble, Alessandra Ammara, Alessandro Carbonare, Irène Duval, Anush Nikogosyan, Maya Oganyan, Andrea Oliva, Roberto Prosseda, Connie Shih, Eleni-Lydia Stamellou, Andreu Vidal Siquier, Jing Zhao, Anna Stylianaki, Nikos Kotenidis are some of the names of musical ensembles and performers that will participate in the Festival.
