For New York’s Greek and Cypriot communities, the evening offers a musical celebration of a shared heritage: the ideals of freedom and democracy and their lasting influence on American independence. Marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, the concert will feature soloists, orchestra and choir, reflecting Kyrenia Opera’s cultural connections between New York, Vienna and Cyprus.
Fannie Petallides Holliday chairs the gala, which supports Kyrenia Opera’s artistic and educational programs. General Director Dr. Constantinos Yiannoudes, baritone, conductor and educator, leads the organization.
Finokalioti is an award-winning performer based in New York, with an established career in theatre, film, television and music in Greece and the United States. Her credits include leading roles in the Off-Broadway musicals Always Young and Spirit of the Game, the Broadway-bound musical Goodbye New York, and portrayals of Maria Callas in Onassis and Sophia Vembo in Sophia Vembo: I Remember You. Her television credits include the Greek series One August Night and ABC News Studios’ Betrayal: Secrets & Lies, available on Hulu.
Her work as a singer and recording artist includes the album Taxidia Psichis, in collaboration with acclaimed classical guitarist Panagiotis Margaris, concerts in Greece and the United States, and appearances at Carnegie Hall, 54 Below and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. She serves as a jury member for the Alpinale Film Festival in Austria and the San Francisco Greek Film Festival. She also shares a 54ONY Award for Best Ensemble Performance for Let’s Be Bad at 54 Below.
