The 2025 season features five vibrant productions that span genres, languages, and generations. Highlights include the world premiere of The Tin Angel (June 28–29), a jazz opera set in a 1970s downtown NYC club, presented at the Ellen Stewart Theater at La MaMa, 66 E 4th Street.
The season continues with L’Amico Fritz (July 19–20), Mascagni’s rarely staged opera of quiet emotional transformation, and Le Nozze di Figaro (July 25–27), presented in a bold, shadow-driven reinterpretation—both at La MaMa’s Downstairs Theater.
On July 18, TG presents Generación Perdida, a powerful new monodrama by Jorge Sosa addressing the humanitarian crisis in Latin America. Rounding out the season is Tribute to Naples: Songs of Eternal Passion (July 15), a concert celebrating Neapolitan song and its cultural legacy, held at the Columbus Citizens Foundation, 8 E 69th Street, Manhattan.
Since 1994, Teatro Grattacielo has been known for rediscovering rarely performed operas, commissioning new works, and supporting artists across cultures.
Under the leadership of Stefanos Koroneos since 2020, the company has deepened its commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and education, with a special focus on nurturing emerging artists through its paid internship and workshop initiative Creative Tableaux.
In 2023, TG honored the centennial of Maria Callas with a production of La Vestale, accompanied by events at the Greek Consulate, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, and the University Club of New York.
The company regularly collaborates with Greek artists, having recently featured Lydia Venieri, Dimitris Koutas, Chara Spathi, Eleni Calenos, Emorfili Tsimplidou, and Anne Fasea. Teatro Grattacielo continues to serve as a cultural bridge between Greece and the international opera scene.
